This is 24 weeks.....

This past week has been just what my soul needed. This past week I got to see all of my family; I got my toes in the sand; I was reunited with my husband; our baby boy graduated kindergarten; and I had an ultrasound to see my little girl.

What more could I ask for?... oh and this week, we officially reach viability and it marks the end of the second trimester.

Needless to say, I’ve had a good week.

We headed to California for the weekend to celebrate my niece's 21st birthday. I cannot believe she is 21 already. I swear we were just celebrating her 1st birthday in the park. I loved getting to see all my brothers, my sister, my in-laws and my nieces and nephews. I even got to see old family friends who I have not seen in ages. It was refreshing.

The next morning, Tim and I woke up early and headed to the beach. It was cold and we didn’t have much time to spend, but it was a priority. For months, all I had been thinking about was the beach. Maybe it is a strange pregnancy thing, but I needed to smell the beach. It did not disappoint. Plus, after being away from Tim for almost two weeks, it was nice to sit on the beach together and play with our – overtired – boys.

After the beach, we headed to an old favorite spot of ours…from our drinking days. I’m telling you, if you are ever in Corona, California, you need to stop at Main Street Brewery for some pizza and beer. It is amazing. Their Bishops Triple is top notch. It was kind of nice to share that place with the boys, even if its change a little.

That afternoon, we got to watch our nephew play t-ball. He was so cute and I loved his little smile when he’d stand there getting ready to bat. Plus, I got to talk with my nieces about everything. I love that when I am with them, it’s like no time has passed. I never have a hard time chatting with them and I am grateful for that, since they are getting older and kids usually begin to pull away.  But I'm gonna hold on to this bond as long as I can.

Our trip back home was so relaxed, busy, but still relaxed.

We came home and got right back into the swing of things. This week Zachary graduated kindergarten. When we walked in they handed us little packs of tissues. I remember thinking that was silly, it was just a kinder promotion, I wouldn’t cry. Then, they played “pomp and circumstance” as the kids walked out in cap and gowns… I was done for. I totally cried. Zachary finishes his first year of school on the honor roll and with a deep love for school. He is in agony knowing that he won’t go back until August.

Yesterday, I had an ultrasound. Apparently, the specialist wants me to have one every 4 weeks to keep track of growth and after 32 weeks we will do weekly stress tests. I don’t mind one bit. The more I get to see her, the better I feel. So, she is still a girl and measuring right on target, like exactly. She was kicking around and he turned the 3D part on, which was a little scary, but she already looks like her brothers. I am due September 15th but they won’t let me go past 39 weeks, which means I really only have about 15 weeks left!!!

I love this picture! Somehow, I convinced all my brothers, my sister & my mom to all take a shot with the birthday girl. Tim did one in my place and I shot water.
