Head of Lettuce; Week 32
This week was full of ups and downs. If you read my last post, then you already know about my friend who lost her brother-in-law. The thought of it still breaks my heart.
We saw the specialist and our regular OB this week. We had another ultrasound which showed that Baby is growing. He is not quite where he should be, but he is within a healthy range. It was such great news. He has gained a little under half a pound per week over the last three weeks. So, if he stays at this rate, we could be looking at having another 8 pound baby boy.
My blood work is still inconclusive. My blood sugar levels have been within range - for the most part. There were a few times where I really indulged and saw my sugar shoot up. We should find out soon if I do actually have gestational diabetes and if they will be medicating me for it. If I do have to get placed on medication then it will look like a delivery somewhere between week 37 and 39 - all depending on how big he is measuring. We still have the possibility of an even earlier delivery if he falls off the growth scale, but at this point, it looks as though he has found a path and is sticking to it. My gut tells me we will be having this little guy somewhere between March 9th and 16th. They have already made it clear that I won't go past 40 weeks.
Next week begins our twice a week testing. Every week I will have an ultrasound and a stress test until our little guy is born. I have been having once a week appointments since about week 20, so I am at least used to the constant visits. I love all of my doctors - I have three. Now that we are getting down to the wire, I will be meeting with both my midwife and the OBGYN. Since there is a high risk of having to go into surgery either during labor or after, my midwife wants the OBGYN to be completely up on my situation. He is such a great doctor and I am very comfortable with him - he delivered Zack. I feel so great and comfortable with all of the care that I have been given throughout this pregnancy.
Everything else is going well around here. We are still putting the finishing touches on the nursery, so pictures will be coming soon. It's going to be so cute!!! Tim got the baby swing, co-sleeper and infant seat out. It is all washed up and ready for the new guy.
Zack still amazes me. He is obsessed with the jets that fly over our house and is constantly telling us to "listen" when he hears them coming. He is learning his manners more and more. He says please, thank you and you're welcome. He also knows that he has to be patient when mommy or daddy are busy. We just tell him that we are doing something and as soon as we are done we will be with him. He just gets quiet and waits for us to finish. He loves to give hugs, which are the best part of my day. He has also figured out where "home" is and likes to point out that we are home. The other day he asked where Tim was and I told him that "Dada is at work." He ran to the garage door and begged for me to take him to "Dada work."
All in all, things are good. Tim and I will celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary next weekend and I am hoping and praying that my doctor says that I can go to our annual Palm Springs trip in a couple weeks. I love going there and find it so relaxing. Part of me thinks that I am going to go no matter what. I mean after all of the talk about the potential risks, I may just say screw it and go enjoy myself, right? Besides, my sister will be there and she's an excellent nurse who has delivered a baby in the back of a car before. Can you tell how bad I want to go?
8 weeks till baby....
