Butternut Squash; Week 31
This past week was a lot of fun getting ready for the baby. We really moved on the nursery, finished pulling out all of the hand-me-downs, washed all of the laundry and we are well on our way to being ready for the baby to arrive.
My mom was so unbelievably helpful while she was here. She sorted through all of the clothes, washed them and even got some stains out of some outfits that I thought were ruined. A couple of mornings she got up early with Zack so that I could sleep in and rest. Zack absolutely loved having her here. They played on the slide, played hide-n-seek, blew bubbles, read stories and of course played cars. He cried after she left. He was so sad and kept saying that she went home and then would follow it up by blowing kisses.
This week I had another visit with the specialist. We discussed my blood work and my blood sugar numbers. It was kind of left in limbo. The fasting that I did prior to the blood test actually made my blood sugar spike, which he believes gave me an elevated number. So, he is testing my A1C to see what that comes up as. Till that comes back he wants me to check my sugar and report it back to them in a week. From there it should all sort itself out. On one hand, he said that if I do have Gestational Diabetes, he wouldn't be surprised since it is more common in women who have been placed on bedrest during their pregnancy.
All in all, no matter if I have it our not, I plan on really tightening up on my diet. With this pregnancy I have had many more cravings and have been hungry way more than I ever was with Zachary. I also have not been drinking as much water as I did while I was pregnant with Zack. No matter, I think a healthier diet is in order.
This week Zack has taken up to singing. His favorite thing to sing is "Hurrah" while listening to "The Ants Go Marching." Its very cute. Zack has also picked up saying "Nick." We told him that Nick was in mommy's belly, but now he thinks that Nick is in his belly. I love it. When you ask him where Nick is he will lift his shirt and pat his belly. But, he is also very aware the he is Zack. So he points to his face and says "Zack" then to his belly and says "Nick." Also, if you haven't guessed already, Zack's favorite word is No. Its so funny when he says it because he sounds like Consuela from Family Guy.
