Happy Nine Months Nicholas

We've had such a busy weekend. All of my boys were finally feeling better and it was time to have some fun. Arizona has so many fun things to do on the weekend, but during the holidays, there are so many things to do that its hard to choose.

Saturday morning we found ourselves getting into the Christmas spirit at a local Christmas festival and parade. Zack and I threw snowballs at each other and at dada. Later that night we went to this festival called Glitters - we go every year, we get an ornament, we eat at this special restaurant. It was the first "new" Christmas tradition we made after moving here and we continue it now with the boys. and they love every minute of it. We spent Monday at the zoo, followed by a trip to the doctor and a Christmas light show.

So, while I'm late posting about our big 9 month old, I do not apologize because I was so busy enjoying my family.

Weight
  • 21 pounds 3 ounces - The doctor told us that Nick is starting to slow down with his weight gain, which is normal, and to expect him to look very tall and skinny. He even went as far as to tell me to ignore people who nose in and make comments about it because there is nothing wrong with him. I was a little taken back by this. I laughed to myself as we left the office because I had people comment on how overfed he looked when he was a month old and apparently now I can expect to hear comments on how underfed he looks. Alrighty then.
Height
  • 30.5 inches long
Sleep
  • Hit and Miss - There is nothing more frustrating than an overtired baby and Nick is an easily overtired baby. He naps like crap. He switches back and forth between a good morning nap or a good afternoon nap, but NEVER EVER EVER does he have two good naps in one day. We are also facing a bit of Separation Anxiety, which isn't helping. When it comes to bedtime, he is an amazing sleeper. He goes down without a fuss ... probably because he is so dang tired from his lack of day time sleep. He is still waking once in the night for a feeding but he has started to drop this feeding the last day or two.
Feeding
  • Breast milk and solids - Nick eats three squares a day on top of his nursing sessions. He loves to eat. So far he is not a fan of peas (who is?? Yuck.) and this is after the 25+ times of offering it.
    Nick's Favorites
    • He loves his big brother
    • He loves playing outside
    • He loves his shoes - seriously, he carries them around wherever he goes
    • He loves his lovie
    • He loves his swaddle - much to my chagrin

    Highlights/Thoughts

Our poor baby boy has had a difficult start to December. He's had double ear infections and bronchitis. All he wants to do is cuddle mama. A day or so after we saw the doctor, I noticed that his eye was goopy, so we headed straight for Urgent Care and sure enough, he had conjunctivitis. Poor buddy. It's been exhausting around here. And... as if that wasn't enough... he has been getting hives on and off for the past 24 hours. We have no idea why or what he is having an allergic reaction to. Through it all he has remained his very happy, loving little self.

In other news, our big boy has said his first word...... MAMA!!!! It is the cutest little thing. He is still not crawling or even making an attempt to, but the doctor said that based on how he is sitting and standing, he wouldn't be surprised to hear that Nick just gets up and walks, skipping crawling entirely. What is with my kids? Why won't they crawl? Ugh. He is currently cutting two teeth. They are almost through, so he may just get two front teeth for Christmas.

Thats about all, for now. I am feeling busier and busier these days, which in turn leads to feeling more and more exhausted. Somedays I am lucky to even brush my hair! Here is to hoping that I can get a better handle on things in 2018! Its going to be different.
Just a lil pre-christmas fun by the tree
