Happy Seven Months Nicholas

It is finally October and finally cool enough to hangout outside. We have been loving the weather! The windows and doors are open and we have fresh air floating through the house. It is glorious. Summer really got to me this year. Most of the time the heat doesn't bother me, but now that I have two kids, one who loves the outdoors, it is difficult keeping them busy and happy while locked up indoors.

October officially kicks off our holiday season. We have the State Fair, Oktoberfest, Pumpkin Patch Festival, Trunk or Treat, Halloween and then we will be well into November and gearing up for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I cannot wait.

Meanwhile, here is a look at our very big 7 month old...

Weight
  • 19 pounds 13 ounces - Nick is in the 75th percentile for his weight. He is such a chunk. I swear, at this rate, Nick will be giving Zack hand me down clothes.
Height
  • 29 1/4 inches long - At Nick's 6mo well visit - which was only five days ago because I forgot to schedule it in September - the pediatrician said that Nick's height has always been in the 99th percentile.
Sleep
  • Great - Nick is sleeping well. He goes to bed without a problem and only wakes for one middle of the night feeding. He is still taking three naps; two long and one short. Things seemed to have evened out with his sleep. I pray things continue to go well.
Feeding
  • Breast milk and solids - Nick has upped his milk game to about 6 ounces a feeding. He eats oatmeal for breakfast, fruits or veggies for lunch and some sort of mashed gerber baby dinner, for dinner. He cannot stand the baby oatmeal that you have to mix with breastmilk. He gags on it and spits it out. I keep trying but he keeps refusing. Now he will take one bite to see what we're feeding him and if it is oatmeal or peas he will refuse to open his mouth for more food. Smarty pants!
    Nick's Favorites
    • He loves to watch his big brother. No matter what Zack is doing, Nick will just laugh and smile at him as he is doing whatever he is doing.
    • He loves to sing, laugh and talk
    • He loves his Mickey Mouse rattle
    • He loves anything that makes noise
    • He loves to be outside
    • He loves his Winnie the Pooh teddy bear

    Highlights/Thoughts

Things are going really well. We have our bad days, but all in all, we have a great system and we keep things as on schedule as we can.

Zack is really becoming more and more interested in his baby brother. He runs up to him to give him a tickle, a hug or sometimes a kiss. When Nick wakes up from his nap, Zack looks at me and yells "brother awake, brother awake" and then he runs to his crib to say hi. It's dang cute. At Nick's 6 month well visit he had to get some shots. Zack was kind of running around when the nurse came in to do it. She gave Nick the first shot and he screamed. Zack stopped what he was doing and just watched as the nurse went to give Nick his second shot. When Nick cried and screamed again, Zack shouted at her "No make brother cry" as he ran over and tried to put himself between the nurse and Nick. It was so sweet and made my heart melt. I had to explain to Zack that she wasn't hurting him but that she was giving him his medicine. The whole time Zack kept repeating "no make brother cry."
